France: Democracy Hanging in the Balance
Millions of people began demonstrating and joining strike action to show their opposition to Macrons pension reform plan.
The protests have intensified since the government used special constitutional powers to bypass parliament on a final vote on the pension bill. President Macron has said he has no choice but to implement the pension reform out of economic considerations but he has not said why he doesnt allow people to protest peacefully.
