Air raids by the Israeli regime against civilian targets in the outskirts of the Western Syrian city of Homs have left at least three people injured, marking the latest military aggression by Tel Aviv against the terror-ravaged Arab nation.
Citing a military source, Syria’s official SANA news agency reported on Saturday that Israeli warplanes fired several missiles from the direction of northern Lebanon at areas in the vicinity of Homs at around 00:50 a.m. local time earlier in the day (2150 GMT Friday), noting that most of the projectiles were intercepted and destroyed before striking their intended targets.

The source was further cited as adding that following an inspection of the targeted area by the Syrian military it was discovered that the three civilians had sustained injuries as the result of the attack.
According to the report, the air raids also caused some material damage, setting on fire a civilian fuel station along with a number of fuel tankers and trucks.
Another report by Syria’s popular Sham FM radio station further said fires had erupted in the southern outskirts of Homs as a result of the Israeli strikes and “successive explosions sounded from the area.”
Back on April 24, the Israeli regime’s military forces also launched a volley of 12 artillery shells at an area east of Syria’s Hader village, which lies in the Khan Arnabah sub-district of southwestern province of Quneitra near the border with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Syria has been gripped by a massive foreign-backed terrorist campaign since March 2011 in a failed bid to overthrow the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Damascus has persistently attributed the terror campaign – entirely carried out by the ruthless Takfiri terrorist groups -- to the US-sponsored Israeli regime and its Western and regional allies that supplied them with weaponry and logistics.
Although most of Syria has been cleared of the foreign-backed terror groups, small pockets of them still remain in the country – largely supplied and aided by occupying US military forces as well as Turkey.
The Tel Aviv regime often targets indiscriminately Syria's civilian, industrial as well as military installations. The regime's aerial aggressions have also targeted positions held by the Lebanon-based Islamic resistance group, Hezbollah, which has played a key role in helping the Syrian army to push back and flush out the foreign-backed terrorists.
The Tel Aviv regime mostly keeps quiet about its attacks on Syrian territories which many view as knee-jerk reaction to Syrian government’s increasing success in confronting terrorism.
The regime has remained a major supporter of the terrorist groups seeking to topple the government of President Assad ever since the foreign-backed terror campaign erupted in Syria nine years ago.
Iranian president to visit Syria 'in near future'
Meanwhile, Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi plans to pay a visit to Damascus “in the near future”, on the first such trip to Syria since taking office in August 2021.
“We have drawn up a program... for a visit” by President Raeisi to Syria, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told a press conference at the Iranian embassy in Beirut, adding that the trip will take place “in the near future.”
The planned visit comes in the context of “multidimensional” cooperation between Tehran and Damascus, he added, according to an official Arabic translation, calling ties between the two countries “excellent.”
Syria's Al-Watan daily further reported that Raeisi would visit Damascus on Wednesday.
Iran and Syria have maintained strong ties for many years, with Tehran openly aiding Damascus in combating the massive foreign-backed terrorist campaign aimed at overtaking the Arab country and then extending the atrocities to neighboring Lebanon and Iraq and ultimately to Iran.
The Islamic Republic has also heavily contributed to Syria's reconstruction efforts over the past few years following its military successes in defeating various terrorist groups and driving them out of regions throughout Syria.
