Highlighting the close interactions between officials from Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says the Islamic Republic sees no limits to the promotion of relations with the neighboring Persian Gulf country in various fields.
Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a telephone conversation with his Emirati counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Saturday.
He said Tehran-Abu Dhabi ties are progressing, noting that “Active meetings and consultations are underway between officials from the two countries.”
“Iran considers no limits for the development of cooperation” with the UAE, Amir-Abdollahian pointed out.
The Emirati foreign minister, for his part, underscored the importance of promotion of bilateral ties in pursuit of common interests, stressing that there exist ample opportunities for joint cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
Al Nahyan then hailed the increase in the level of cooperation among regional countries in recent weeks, including the reconciliation between Tehran and Riyadh and new developments in Syria.
The two foreign ministers also extended their best wishes to one another on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, and exchanged viewpoints on bilateral, regional and international matters.
Moreover, the two top diplomats invited each other to visit their respective countries.
Earlier this month, Iran appointed Reza Ameri as its new envoy to the United Arab Emirates, ending a seven-year absence of an ambassador in the country.
The UAE downgraded its relations with the Islamic Republic in 2016 after Saudi Arabia cut diplomatic ties with Iran.
However, Iran and Saudi Arabia recently agreed to restore their diplomatic relations after a seven-year break, with the reopening of their embassies and consulates expected soon, according to a China-mediated agreement.
