US failed objective

Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei says Iran was the main target of the wars the US waged in Iraq and Afghanistan. The leader said in a meeting with senior commanders of the armed forces that Americans failed in getting their final objective due to Iran’s power. Ayatollah Khamenei added that armed forces should stop at no level of progress and should push ahead ceaselessly, as threats never go away completely. The leader added that readiness of armed forces is deterrent, per se, but warned that US and its allies will continue to trigger conflicts, where their interests are served. Ayatollah Khamenei also talked about Palestinian operations against Israel. He said Israeli crimes are now sparking protests even in the US and the UK and this is a defeat for the regime.

Yemen prisoner exchange

In Yemen, the Ansarullah movement and forces loyal to former fugitive President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi have freed scores of detainees as part of a prisoner swap deal. Planes carrying prisoners took off at the same time from the capital Sanaa, which is controlled by Ansarullah, and the northern city of Marib, which is under the control of Saudi-backed Hadi loyalists. Nearly 90 prisoners were exchanged during the flights on Sunday while three other flights were to complete the prisoner exchange later in the day. The swap was the last of a three-day exchange of nearly 900 detainees under a deal reached in Switzerland last month. Saudi Arabia launched its aggression against Yemen back in 2015. Large numbers of Yemenis have been killed or wounded in the war ever since.

Sudan deadly clashes

Clashes between Sudan’s army and a paramilitary force are continuing for a second day. The violence has so far killed scores of military personnel and over 50 civilians. Heavy fighting is underway in the capital Khartoum, as well as other cities. Violence erupted Saturday after weeks of power struggle between the army chief and his deputy, who commands the Rapid Support Forces. The rival generals seized power in a 2021 coup. The RSF says it has seized a number of state buildings, a claim rejected by the Army. The UN world food program has temporarily halted all operations in the country after three of its employees were killed. The African Union's Peace and Security Council has held an emergency session, in which Egypt offered to mediate between the warring parties.
