Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has visited China on a state visit that aims to set relations between the two emerging powers back on track.

Lula arrived in China’s commercial hub Shanghai on Wednesday and met with business and tech industry representatives. Brazil is seeking to consolidate its relation with Beijing. Ties with China deteriorated under Lula's predecessor Jair Bolsonaro. Lula also attended the swearing-in of former Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff as head of a new multilateral development bank.
