Demonstrators have taken to the streets in Berlin to protest Germany's military support and delivery of lethal arms to Ukraine, calling on the government to stop fanning the flames of war.
They demanded peace talks to escalate to put an end to the Ukraine war, as they held signs and placards that read, "You don't defend freedom with war," "Peace now! Without weapons!”, and "Diplomats instead of grenades".
"They must negotiate diplomatically; they must negotiate honestly with compromises from both sides. That is the case if you want peace,” a protester said.
“You do not send weapons in this case to kill people. People are being killed any moment here - well, not here, but there, with the weapons that are being funded here. And I am ashamed of that."
"If arms supplies continue to happen, however, the war will be prolonged by months or a year even. According to information I have, 300,000 people died - 150,000 on each side," another demonstrator added.
Counter-protests were also held in response to the demonstration, which led to police intervention to stop the situation from getting worse.
Various alliances, including the "Die Basis", have called for demonstrations, according to local media.
Over the months, Germany and several other European countries have been witnessing waves of protests against the Ukraine conflict.
During the previous demonstration of Germans against arming Ukraine, which was organized on the anniversary of the Ukraine conflict, about 10,000 people took to the streets of the capital just to call on the government to negotiate with Russia.
the United States and the European Union have supplied Ukraine with tens of billions of dollars worth of weapons, including rocket systems, drones, armored vehicles, tanks, and communication systems.
Russia has repeatedly warned that the Western military assistance will only prolong the war.
