Russian pres. holds talks with his Syrian counterpart in Moscow

Russian President, Vladimir Putin, held talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the Kremlin. The heads of state of the two countries are in constant contact as relations between Moscow and Damascus are developing in various areas.

Meanwhile, Assad expressed support for Russia's special operation in Ukraine and thanked Moscow for its help following the earthquake.

Meanwhile, the situation in Syria and bilateral military cooperation were discussed by the defense ministers of the two countries. Sergei Shoigu told his counterpart Ali Mahmoud Abbas, expressed condolences to the Syrian people in connection with the February earthquake and stressed the importance of close contacts, which are aimed at maintaining stability in the Arab country in the field of defense and the fight against terrorism.

The visit by the Syrian president is indicative of strengthening ties between the two countries. The Syrian-Turkish dossier is another important outcome of this visit. The near future will show whether this will lead to the restoration of ties between Syria and Turkey.
