Gazans mark Palestinian Wounded Persons Day

People in the Gaza Strip rallied in front of the Red Cross office on Monday to mark this year’s Palestinian Wounded Persons Day.
The annual event pays tribute to Palestinians who have got injured during Israeli wars and aggressions.
Thousands of injured Palestinians suffer from permanent disabilities caused by Israel.
Wounded Palestinians say Israel’s crimes will continue to go unpunished as long as the regime is under the protection of Western countries.
During the 2014 war on Gaza, Israeli forces killed over 2,200 Gazans, including women and children, and injured more than 11,000.
In May of 2021, over 2,200 Palestinians were injured, including 685 children and 480 women.
The wounded people in Gaza are also suffering from the Israeli blockade, which has created a harsh humanitarian situation in the region.
Wounded Palestinians in the blockaded territory struggle to cope with their injuries due to a lack of specialized medical facilities to cater for their needs.
Medics say Israel’s use of unconventional weapons during its wars and aggressions has increased the number of severe injuries among Palestinians.
Israeli regime forces have killed and maimed thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip including women and children since 2008.
Experts say the international community must end its apathy to Israeli crimes.
