“Arbaeen from the eyes of the pilgrims of Imam Hussein’s Holy Shrine” … For the eighth consecutive year the Arba'een walk became the topic of this international artistic event. The gathering honors the world's largest annual public gathering held in the city of Karbala in Iraq at the end of the 40-day mourning period following Ashura, the commemoration of the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad’s grandson.
Artists, filmmakers, photographers and authors gathered in the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization headquarters in Tehran to take part in the 8th International Arbaeen Awards ceremony.
Participants from 20 countries submitted their works to the ICRO in the fields of photography, videos, and travelogues, books and social media. The works depict a ritual that has been described as an overwhelmingly powerful display of Muslim and solidarity and the eighth international Arbaeen Awards named this year’s winners.
When words fail to convey the grandeur of a concept, art communicates the message.
Art transcends all boundaries and therefore the organizers are saying this is more than just a simple award ceremony to cherish Imam Hossein. But rather it is a way to send his message worldwide.
