The most prestigious cinematic event in Iran has kicked of once again bringing together filmmakers, directors and members of cast and crew as well as movie lovers and moviegoers in Tehran.
The 41st edition of the Fajr Film Festival opened with the screening of the movie “Maestro” by Emad Hosseini, an adaptation of Oleanna by David Mamet, a clear sign that this year we should be expecting a very different film festival. First and foremost is the conspicuous presence of first-time directors.
But that is not all; in the international section, nearly two dozen movies are also taking part. For many of them, this is a regional movies premier, which is why as always the spotlight is on the festival and the movies participating in it.
Movies will be competing for the top award or the Crystal Simorgh in six different sections based on their stories. The Cinema of Salvation, Resistance, Muhammad Amin and Eastern Vista being to most competitive sections with all eyes watching to see which movies will take home the Crystal Simorgh.
For movie lovers and moviegoers, this is the time to be in Tehran; however, in less than a week, on February the fifth, movie theaters across the country will also be joining in.
