A superb volley by Kalidou Koulibaly earned Senegal a place in the knock-out round, for just the second time, as they beat Ecuador 2-1.
The Africans took the lead on the verge of half-time, with Ismaila Sarr stroking a penalty into the bottom corner. Ecuador searched for a way back into the game, and they found the equalizer in the 68th minute, when Moi-Ses Cai-cedo tapped into an empty net.
However, Koulibaly's composed finish immediately, regained the lead for Senegal, who held out amid a nervy six minutes of stoppage time, to finish as runners-up in Group A.
