Palestine has called upon the international community to exert tremendous pressure on the Tel Aviv regime to force it into stopping its bloody campaign against Palestinians after Israeli military forces shot dead a 19-year-old teenager in the town of Beitunia near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in a statement released on Monday, said that Israel must be compelled to abandon its aggression against the Palestinian nation, and to engage in serious negotiations that would result in ending the occupation of Palestinian territories.

The ministry also held the Israeli regime fully and directly responsible for the escalating tensions, their adverse consequences, and obstruction of regional and international efforts to achieve calm.

The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the victim as Sanaa al-Tal, and said she was shot in the head by Israeli forces during a raid at dawn on Monday.

According to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, another Palestinian, 26-year-old Anas Hassouneh, was injured and arrested in the shooting.

A witness told Wafa that al-Tal and Hassouneh were in a vehicle driving up a road, unaware that Israeli forces had stationed themselves at several points until they were surprised by the troops’ presence.

“When they tried to turn around, they found other soldiers opposite them who started shooting at them without any notice,” the witness, who lives in the area, said, adding that the car was shot at three times by soldiers stationed on different corners as it tried to get away.

The witness added that Israeli soldiers pulled Hassouneh, who was driving the car, out of the vehicle and that he was bleeding, while al-Tal died at the scene.

Israeli forces have recently been conducting overnight raids and killings in the northern occupied West Bank, mainly in the cities of Jenin and Nablus, where new groups of Palestinian resistance fighters have been formed.

Israel has killed 197 Palestinians since the start of 2022 in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, including 43 children.

According to the United Nations, the number of Palestinians killed by Israel in the occupied West Bank this year is the highest it has been in 16 years.

Local and international rights groups have condemned Israel’s excessive use of force and “shoot-to-kill policy” against Palestinians.
