Leftist former President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva won Brazil's presidential runoff Sunday, in one of the most significant and bruising elections in the country’s history. According to the country’s election authority, Lula secured 50.8 percent of the vote compared with 49.2 percent for incumbent Jair Bolsonaro marking a stunning comeback for the leftist leader and the end of the country's most right-wing government in decades.
