US President Joe Biden’s approval rating stays close to the lowest level of his presidency three weeks from midterm elections in the country, according to a new poll.

A Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll showed on Tuesday that only 40 percent of Americans are satisfied with the Democratic president’s performance.

The two-day national poll, which remains unchanged compared to last week, found around a third of Americans see economy as the major problem facing the nation.

The new figure suggests that Republicans might win control of the US House of Representatives on Nov. 8, although experts argue that Democrats have a better chance of keeping the Senate.

Additionally, other opinion polls have depicted a gloomy landscape for Democrats as they gear up for the midterm elections.

A USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll found that Republicans maintain a clear lead on the congressional ballot over Democrats.

The United States is facing high inflation, with many families struggling to cover expenses. Biden’s popularity hit a record-low of 36 percent in May and June.

Meanwhile, a majority of Democratic voters have said Biden should not run for the White House in 2024, according to a September poll.

The ABC News-Washington Post poll, produced by Langer Research Associates, found that 56 percent of Democratic voters oppose Biden’s reelection bid, while 9 percent said they had no opinion.
