The Prisoners Affairs Committee of Sana’a has signed the last list for a prisoner swap with Saudi Arabia under which inmates will be exchanged between Sana’a and Riyadh.

Head of the committee Abdulqader Al-Murtada said the database that was an obstacle to the implementation of the agreement has been corrected.

Al-Murtada said a visit by the Sana’a delegation to Saudi prisons was successful as the Yemeni prisoners were reassured that the swap deal would move forward. He hoped that the reciprocal visits will be a first step toward settling the humanitarian issue of the prisoner exchange.

Recently, a Saudi technical delegation visited Sana’a while another from the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee of Sana’a entered Riyadh to verify the names of prisoners of both parties.

Observers say if the prisoner swap deal moves forward, it could help end the war.
