In order to verify the names of inmates on both sides, a Saudi technical delegation arrived in Sana’a while another from the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee of Sana’a entered Riyadh in the first stage of the swap deal clinched in Amman.
The head of Yemen’s National Committee for Prisoners Affairs says the visits have nothing to do with any political talks.
However, observers say this mutual visit is the first of its kind since the beginning of the war seven years ago, therefore, it is an indication of direct communication between Sana'a and Riyadh.
Meanwhile, the head of Yemen's Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat held talks with Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs of the United Nations Joyce Msuya in Sana'a.
Al-Mashat urged the world body to reject all inhumane measures taken against the Yemeni people.
Following the failure to renew the UN-brokered truce and the military parades of the Sana'a government, the international community is making new moves to find a more reliable agreement that satisfies both sides and ends the sufferings of millions of Yemenis.
