Thousands of Palestinians have rallied in the blockaded Gaza Strip to mark the 35th anniversary of the outset of the Islamic Jihad movement. People from all walks of life joined to show their support.
The Islamic Jihad movement is highly respected by all Palestinian factions and has always been a uniting factor among them.
The movement was founded by the late Dr. Fathi Shaqaqi who was inspired by the Iranian Revolution and the teachings of the late leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini.
Ziyad al-Nakhala, the Secretary General of Islamic Jihad, addressed the attendees via satellite link. During his speech, al-Nakhala stressed the unity among all Palestinian factions and praised the Axis of Resistance against the Israeli regime.
The Islamic Jihad Movement and its leaders remain blacklisted by the European Union and the United States for refusing to recognize the Israeli regime.
Islamic Jihad supporters want the Israeli regime to know that their movement is a force to be reckoned with. Thirty-five years on, the popularity of the Islamic Jihad movement continues to grow due to the movement’s strict adherence to armed resistance against the Israeli regime.
