'Doomsday' floods destroy thousands of homes in Sudan's River Nile state

People recover their belongings after floods caused by torrential rains in Sudan's River Nile state killed at least 52 people and damaged or destroyed thousands of homes.

"The floods were very heavy, and instantly filled the streets of the neighbourhood," says Seifeddine Soliman, a resident of Makaylab village, inundated with water.
