US carrier strike group has returned to South China Sea, ratcheting up tensions with Beijing. This comes amid row over Taiwan. Reports of US House Speaker Pelosi’s plan to visit Taiwan have angered China. Beijing says the presence of US warships in South China Sea is a ‘threat to peace and stability’ in the region, with President Xi warning Biden not to “play with fire” on Taiwan.
