Cheney gives the lie to 'Anglo-Saxon jurisprudence': Analyst

Wyoming Republican Representative Liz Cheney is the daughter of a war criminal, former US Vice President Dick Cheney, and is deeply connected to the CIA, according to an American analyst.

"Liz Cheney - or any Cheney - lecturing anyone on 'Anglo-Saxon jurisprudence' is too rich for words," New York-based analyst Don DeBar told Press TV Tuesday, referring to remarks Cheney - an anti-Trump Republican - made blasting Senator Tom Cotton Monday for his criticisms of the public hearings put on by the House Select Committee tasked with investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol.

“Hey @SenTomCotton – heard you on @hughhewitt criticizing the Jan 6 hearings,” Cheney tweeted. “Then you said the strangest thing; you admitted you hadn’t watched any of them.”

Previously, US President Joe Biden had described the situation facing Capitol Police on January 6 as "a medieval hell."

DeBar said that "the fact that the daughter of a war criminal - who is herself deeply connected to the US CIA, the one truly medieval force on the planet - would lecture Cotton as she engages in that Torquemada-like imitation of the McCarthy hearings goes beyond any measure of irony, or farce, instead approaching an LSD-fueled maniacal fantasy."

Cheney is the vice chair of the nine-member Democratic-led House of Representatives Select Committee, which is holding public hearings intended to hold Trump responsible for the January 6, 2021 violence, alleging that he knowingly spread lies about the election with the intent of overturning the results, that he helped assemble the mob in the Capitol, and that he failed to act to stop the violence.

The committee is trying to build a case that these efforts amounted to illegal conduct that would disqualify him for a run in 2024.

DeBar said, "It's what the CIA did in Brazil to prevent former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva from running in the last election, what they tried to do to Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner in Argentina, and what was done in Peru, Honduras and elsewhere; it's one of their common strategies, and it's transparent as hell here.”

"In other words, the hearings are intended to deny voters a chance to vote for - or against - Donald Trump in the 2024 election by disqualifying him for participating in 'insurrection,' the only legal bar to him being reelected,” he added.

DeBar warned, however, "Trump has a following that has remained at almost exactly half of the electorate, despite what has been a 5-year, wall-to-wall, unprecedented negative propaganda campaign. This is the same cohort of the population that is armed, and, most likely, where most of the 28% of Americans  who, according to a recent poll, think they may have to 'take up arms' against the U.S. government."

Trump claimed that he won the 2020 presidential election and that there was "massive" voter fraud. The former president claimed that he ordered 10,000 National Guard troops to protect the Capitol.

Trump has maintained that he lost the election only because of widespread fraud that benefited Biden. Trump and his supporters denounce the January 6 panel as a political witch hunt.

The certification vote on January 6 had become a focus for Trump.  On January 6, 2021, Trump's supporters occupied the US Capitol while lawmakers were in the process of reviewing the certification of state electors which indicated Biden's victory. Some Trump supporters had hoped that this process could have resulted in some of the electors being disqualified, thus overturning the outcome of the presidential election.

It is claimed by some that the demonstrators were infiltrated and incited by provocateurs from US intelligence agencies, who orchestrated the “false flag operation” to prevent the public vetting of evidence of fraud at the Joint Session, in order to get rid of Trump.

Some among the crowd clashed with police, and some made threats to beat up a number of Democratic lawmakers. Some also inflicted damage on parts of the Capitol building.

One person - an unarmed protestor named Ashli Babbitt - was killed by a police gunshot to her face as she entered the Capitol.

‘War criminal’

Congresswoman Cheney’s father, Dick Cheney, had been accused of playing a part in the “false flag operation” of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the US, and of masterminding the illegal war on Iraq that took at least a million lives.

9/11 was a series of strikes that killed nearly 3,000 people and caused about $10 billion worth of property and infrastructure damage in the United States.

US officials assert that the attacks were carried out by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists but many experts and independent researchers have raised questions about the official account.

They believe that rogue elements within the US government, such as Cheney, orchestrated or at least encouraged the 9/11 attacks in order to expand funding for the US war machine and intelligence services and to advance the US geopolitical position in the Middle East.
