Italian rider, Stefano Oldani, has grabbed his 1st professional career victory after winning stage 12 of the Giro d'Italia.
Oldani formed a three-man break-away with Lorenzo Rota and Gijs Leemreize, with each aiming for their first career stage win. Leemreize launched the first attack before Oldani raced clear for the win.
Meanwhile, in the General classification, Spain's Juan Pedro Lopez retained the pink jersey with a 12-second lead over Richard Carapaz and João Almeida. Friday's stage 13 is a largely flat 150km run from San Remo to Cuneo.
