The Hamas Government Media Office has held a big ceremony in Gaza to pay tribute to fallen Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.
Abu Akleh was killed after being shot in the head while covering Israeli army raids in the northern occupied West Bank last week.
Palestinian Journalists, academics and senior Palestinian officials attended the ceremony.
Palestinian officials accused Israeli regime forces of deliberately killing Shireen Abu Akleh.
Abu Akleh was wearing a press vest that identified her as a member of the press when she was shot by Israeli snipers.
According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, protective gear that clearly indicates individuals are journalists should grant them extra protection, not make them targets.
Experts say Israeli forces will continue with their violations against journalists as long as the international community keeps turning a blind eye.
Under the Geneva conventions, journalists like other civilians enjoy protection amid armed conflicts.
While covering Israeli attacks, Palestinian journalists work hard to avoid being part of the story themselves.
Observers say that Shireen Abu Akleh’s killing is another example of the Israeli regime's brutality against the Palestinian people.
