Enea Bastianini has stormed to his third win of the 2022 MotoGP season in a dramatic French Grand Prix after long-time leader Francesco Bagnaia crashed.
The Gresini rider hounded Bagnaia with 7 laps remaining before the Ducati rider promptly crashed out.
Bastianini eventually took the chequered flag 2.7 seconds ahead of Jack Miller.
Bagnaia’s misfortune offered home-hero Fabio Quartararo an opportunity to salvage a podium place at Le Mans.
But Aprilia’s Alesh Espargaro put up a formidable defense to claim his third-straight rostrum result and shrink Quartararo’s points lead to just 4, heading to the Italian Grand Prix in two weeks’ time.
Meanwhile, Bastianini’s success sees him close to within just 8 points of the Yamaha ace.
