Rahman Amoo Zad in the 65kg class was Iran’s first gold winner. All he needed against his Olympic bronze medallist from India was to perform a take down and hold on for the 3-1 win.
Then in the 79kg division, Ali Savad Koohi came across another Indian for the gold medal match.
He first moved up 8-0, but then lost his momentum in the second period, allowing his Indian opponent to grow back in the bout and tie it at 9-9.
Yet the Iranian was declared the winner for taking the maximum number of points from a single move.
And In the 97kg, Mohammad Hossein Mohammadian who stormed into the final after dispatching opponents from Turkmenistan and India by technical superiority, dismantled his Mongolian finalist in the same way and grabbed Iran’s 3rd gold of the day.
