Ramadan 2022 is underway and Muslims are fasting from dawn to dusk. But to those who are fasting for the first time, it is going to be the most different and memorable Ramadan.

Tehran municipality has invited 500 first-time fasters to this Iftar meal to celebrate their religious coming of age. In Islam, a person would be responsible to perform their religious tasks when they reach puberty. And that's when they are duty bound to fast during Ramadan.

In Muslim societies, Ramadan is known as the month of God, and Muslims believe they are invited to a divine party. That's why in the holy month, humanitarian activities and charity works get supercharged, with people trying to do whatever they can to help the needy.

Muslims view Ramadan as not just a time to refrain from eating and drinking. They regard it as a chance to push the limits on humanity and become the best version of themselves as a human being. And that's what organizers here try to teach these first time fasters.
