Syria slams Israeli aggression against Palestinians, urges world to stop Israeli crimes

Syria has strongly denounced the latest escalation of violence by Israeli forces against Palestinians across the occupied territories, calling on the international community to stop the Israeli regime’s crimes immediately.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry called Israeli acts of aggression against the Palestinian people “a crime that contradicts the international law, legitimacy of human rights, international [humanitarian] law and relevant UN resolutions.”

According to the statement, the international community must assume responsibility toward the Palestinian people, protect them, implement resolutions concerning the Palestinian cause, and stop Israeli crimes immediately, Syria’s official news agency SANA reported.

It added that Damascus reaffirms its support for the Palestinian people and their right to liberation, independence, and establishment of their independent state with al-Quds as its capital, as well as an end to the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian land.

The statement came as the regime in Tel Aviv continued its crackdown on Palestinians on Tuesday and Wednesday, arresting a number of Palestinians in occupied East al-Quds, desecrating al-Aqsa mosque, issuing new restrictions on the Palestinian people’s entry into the mosque, and ordering the demolition of Palestinian homes and agricultural facilities.

Testimonies by the minors show most of them underwent some sort of physical or psychological torture.

On Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, Israeli forces used rubber-coated steel bullets, stun grenades, and batons to disperse Palestinians who gathered at Bab al-Amoud, also known as the Damascus Gate, one of the main gates of the Old City of al-Quds, in the fourth consecutive night of violence against Palestinians.

They detained 22 Palestinians from various parts of the occupied West Bank, including the Damascus Gate, according to local and security sources. An Israeli special force arrested the ex-prisoner Abd al-Rahman al-Saadi in Jenin, after breaking into his family house.

Israeli authorities also issued new restrictions on the Palestinian people’s entry into al-Aqsa mosque starting next Friday, banning men younger than 50 from attending Friday prayers.

On Wednesday morning, dozens of Israeli settlers, escorted by the regime’s police forces, stormed al-Aqsa mosque in different groups through the Maghariba Gate and toured its courtyards.

Israeli forces beat, arrest Palestinians in occupied al-Quds for third night

The Israeli occupation forces have for a third consecutive night attacked Palestinians at Bab al-Amoud, also known as Damascus Gate.

Meanwhile, according to a recent report, Israeli military forces killed 17 Palestinian children under 18 years in the occupied West Bank and 61 in the besieged Gaza Strip in 2021.

Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has already warned Israel against pushing forward with its open aggression against Palestinians, particularly Muslim worshipers at the al-Aqsa mosque compound during the Muslim holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Last May, similar Israeli atrocities against Palestinians led to a war between the Israeli military and the Gaza-based resistance groups, who rose up in protests in solidarity with their fellow countrymen in the Israeli-occupied West Bank

During the war, the fourth wholesale military campaign by the occupying regime against the densely-populated Palestinian enclave, the regime killed at least 260 Palestinians, including 66 children.
