Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan is showing his street power. This large public gathering Khan addressed in Islamabad came ahead of the vote of no-confidence motion against him.

Opposition parties have moved a no trust move against the prime minister, accusing him of failing to deliver and hence are seeking his ouster.

But the prime minister claims there is an international conspiracy to topple his government.

Khan insists certain powers wanted to punish him for pursuing an independent foreign policy. But the opposition parties have dismissed the government’s claim.

The National Assembly of Pakistan will begin debate on the no-confidence motion on Thursday. As per rules, the voting has to take place within seven days once the resolution is tabled in the lower house of Parliament.

The no-trust move is the biggest challenge Prime Minister Khan is facing in his nearly four-year rule.

No elected prime minister in Pakistan has ever completed the full five-year term. The fate of the incumbent prime minister is also now hanging in balance. Imran Khan will have to step down if 172 members of the National Assembly vote in favor of the no-confidence motion.
