Iran have finished their 2022 World Cup Qualifying Campaign on a high note after posting a comfortable 2-0 victory over Lebanon in Mashhad.
In a match which was attended by over 15,000 fans at the Imam Reza Stadium, Team Melli grabbed the lead after 36 minutes when Mohammadhossein Kanaani Zaadegan teed-up Sardar Azmoun behind the defense and the Bayer Leverkusen striker slotted in a first time effort for his 40th international goal.
Alireza Jahanbakhsh then sealed the deal in the 72nd minute as he latched onto a long pass before lobbing the ball home in style. The result puts Iran back on Top of group B, 2 points above South Korea, who are currently playing their last game with the UAE and should the East Asians drop any points, Dragan Skocic’s men would finish as group leaders.
