Sanctions are followed by dissatisfaction, dissent and ongoing tension.

That would be the normal sequence of affairs. But in Iran tension has not been ongoing on a large scale, because the country has managed to provide essential and secondary goods in spite of the US’s harshest ever sanctions for the past few years.

The government has assigned a billion dollars a month to providing essential goods and provisions, in spite of limitations on providing foreign currency.
