A car ramming retaliatory attack targeting the Israeli regime's police and military forces has reportedly injured two soldiers in the Palestinian village of Silat al-Harithiya near the West Bank city of Jenin.

The late Monday incident took place just hours after an alleged stabbing attack against the Israeli regime's troops in al-Quds's Old City, Palestinian news outlets reported.

The driver of the car involved in the ramming retaliation, which also damaged an armored military vehicle, has been arrested and is being interrogated by Israeli military agents, they said.

The injured Israeli troops were reportedly transferred to a treatment center at a military base.

The retaliation came after Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian youth in the Old City on Monday amid escalating tensions in the city over the Tel Aviv regime’s planned eviction of Palestinian families and relentless attacks on Palestinians who pray at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

The ramming took place at Bab al-Qataneen neighborhood, where Israeli police had closed all entrances leading to the Old City of al-Quds and deployed their heavily armed troops in the aftermath of the alleged stabbing attack.

The Israeli police alleged in a statement that the Palestinian man had attacked two officers near an entrance to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, prompting them to respond with gunfire.

The Palestinian youth, identified as Abdul Rahman Qasim, succumbed to his gunshot wounds.

It also came just after Israeli military forces had begun demolishing the home of Ghaith Jaradat, one of the Palestinian resistance fighters who had killed an Israeli soldier in the same village last December.

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh condemned the killing of the young Palestinian man, saying Israel continues to escalate its repressive measures and attacks across the occupied territories through field execution of youths.
