Feb 24, 2022: Russia has sent troops into Ukraine, in what has been described as the largest conventional military attack in Europe since World War II.
As of now, a million refugees have fled Ukraine. Russian forces have captured close to 1/3rd of Ukrainian territory and are just miles away from the capital Kiev. While some (such as China, Iran, Pakistan) abstained from condemning Russias actions, others didn't shy away, slapping it with some of the toughest economic sanctions. Russia was partly removed from SWIFT, and roughly half of the Russian Central Banks assets were frozen. As the ruble plummeted, Russians headed to the ATMs to withdraw their savings. While corporate media would rather just make this whole issue about Vladimir Putin being crazy, it's much bigger than that. Hes actually quite rational. So, whats his plan here? Why is Russia in Ukraine? Are its security concerns legitimate, or just a pretext for aggression? Has Putin really miscalculated, as we keep hearing, and is this operation worth the cost?
