These ear-soothing voices narrate divine verses from Muslims’ holy book, Qur'an. The recitations are performed as part of the 38th International Qur'an Competition in Iran.
Contestants from 25 countries are competing in the annual contest, which, like the previous edition, was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
More than 400 participants from 60 countries took part in the primary stage of the competition, out of whom, 57 made it to the final stage. Participants compete in three different fields of recitation, memorization and interpretation.
Experts believe the event helps promote unity between different Muslim nations through their shared holy book, Qur'an.
The event has dedicated a special section for the blind who have memorized the Qur'an through listening to recitations. The contest also has another section for students from across the Muslim world who compete in the recitation category.
Not all Muslims can recite the holy Qur'an as melodiously as contestants here do, but every Muslim family has the holy book in their houses to read it as frequently as possible and ponder the messages embedded in its verses. Those divine messages can be communicated more effectively when they are recited by these celestial voices.
