The Muslim Council of Britain has demanded an independent public enquiry be launched to get to the bottom of who was behind the “hoax” extremism plot letter which ruined the lives of so many Muslim teachers.
The call comes amid rising pressure on government minister Michael Gove who’s was named and shamed as a key component which turned the bogus plot into a nation wide Islamophobic witch hunt in Birmingham.
It all started when a random letter, detailing an alleged plot by Muslims to take over and radicalise schools was circulated in British media. Mr Gove apparently saw that letter, was warned its a hoax, but disregarded this feedback. Many wonder that the fact that Mr Gove has written works considered Islamophobic in the past may have inspired towards his decision to help purge several Muslim majority schools.
Press TV spoke to several victims of the anti-Muslim witch hunt earlier this week. They are hopeful for legal retribution.
Apart from the racist and Islamophobia aspects at play, the Trojan Horse scandal was used as pretext to enforce controversial counter extremism policies which have penalised Muslims ever since.
