NBA: Charlotte Hornets 107-111 Miami Heat

The Miami Heat have moved up to the top of the Eastern Conference standings, after edging past Charlotte Hornets 111 to 107 away from home.

The Heat were the better side in the opener as they finished it 37-30. But Hornets managed to open up a 7-point lead in the 2nd quarter that led to their 54-47 advantage at the intermission. It was a close contest after the break and the 3rd quarter finished 17-apiece, before the visitors regrouped in the final quarter as they took it 23-16 to level the score at 87-all, at the end of the regulation time. It was a neck and neck contest in the 1st overtime and it was tied at 10-all. But, the Heat piled on the pressure and beat the hosts 14-10 in the 2nd overtime, which led to their 4-point victory at the end. The Heat will fly to New York to play against the Knicks on Friday at the Madison Square Garden, whereas Charlotte will welcome the Toronto Raptors on the same day.
