NATO confirms plans to expand its military infrastructure in Eastern Europe in contravention of security demands made by Russia. Several EU lawmakers accuse the West of doing all in its power to provoke Moscow.

Russia could not have been clearer. For security reasons, the Kremlin asked NATO to stop expanding eastwards. At a meeting of the alliance's 30 defense ministers in Brussels on Wednesday, they agreed on plans to do just that.

NATO claims Moscow is threatening Ukraine. However, in the European Parliament it has been pointed out that Russia's military drills are only taking place inside Russia.

Some EU legislators blame Western powers for the current crisis over Ukraine. Mainstream Western media outlets have been blasted in the European Parliament for apparently stoking tensions.
