Hezbollah MP: US, Israel in cahoots to destroy resistant countries

Lebanese MP Mohammad Raad

A Lebanese lawmaker says the United States and the Israeli regime are working hand in hand to destroy the countries that are refusing to succumb to their pressure, emphasizing, however, that the resistance front is capable of foiling the enemies’ plots.

Mohammad Raad, head of Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc – the political wing of the Hezbollah resistance movement – in the Lebanese parliament, made the remarks on Monday, days after the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on three Lebanese nationals and 10 companies over alleged ties to Hezbollah.

The new sanctions were the latest against Hezbollah, which has taken measures aimed at easing the pain of the Lebanese people caused by an inhumane US siege.

“The Americans are using the Israelis to deceive the countries like the UAE, Turkey, and others. They order an act of sabotage in the country that does not surrender, seeking to destroy its banking system,” he said.

“This happened in Lebanon, a state that wants to protect its sovereignty with the blood of its children. The US has banned the Lebanese nation’s dignity and independence. It wants to humiliate them so that they will give in to all the instructions issued by the US government and the Zionist enemy and declare allegiance to the pair.”

Raad also said that Washington and Tel Aviv are actually trying to starve the Lebanese people in order to trample on their dignity.

“We can stand firm against the conspiracies of the enemies. Through starving, the enemies want us to surrender … but what disappointed them is that most the Lebanese … are resilient,” he added.

“Why shouldn’t we remain resilient in the face of the enemies’ conspiracies at a time when they did their best to overthrow Lebanon and we defeated them? We have now become a member of the resistance front in the region and thus we must apply our conditions against them (the enemies).”

Lebanon has been mired since late 2019 in a deep financial crisis that has caused the Lebanese pound to lose around 90 percent of its value to the dollar and led its banking system to collapse.

The crisis has led to a fuel shortage and power cuts as well as growing petrol prices and skyrocketing inflation.

The US has exacerbated the problems by putting Lebanon under siege and adopting the so-called Caesar Act, which has hindered the country’s economic cooperation with Syria.
