2022 Asian Handball Championship: Iran lose 36-26 to Bahrain, meet Qatar in semis
Iran’s National Handball Team have suffered their first loss at the 2022 Asian Championship going down 36-26 to Bahrain but are still going to the Semi-finals as Group B runners-up.
Having already booked a ticket for the last 4 as well as a 2023 World Cup qualification Manuel Montoya’s men started the match knowing that a win would send them UP as group winners as it would provide an easier route to the final.
But they put-on an under-par display against Bahrain and succumbed to a heavy defeat by 10 goals. As a result Team Iran will now have to take on Group A’s top seed Qatar in the semis on Saturday while Bahrain will meet Saudi Arabia on the same day.
