Rafael Nadal has eased into the third round of the Australian Open, after beating German qualifier Yannick Hanfmann in straight sets.
Hanfmann went toe-to-toe with Nadal in the beginning, as they hit a 2-all tiebreak, before the 2009 Champion broke the German’s serve twice to take the first set 6-2.
Hanfmann could not find himself ahead in the second set, and went on to lose it 6-3. However, he showed more resilience in the final set, but Nadal did not even have to move into top gear to get the job done, as he won it 6-4.
With Roger Federer and World No.1 Novak Djokovic absent from the tournament, the Spaniard is the only former Champion remaining in the men’s draw, who is on course for a Men’s record of 21 Grand Slam titles.
