Inside the closed Sana'a International Airport, Yemen's Civil Aviation Authority held a protest rally to mark "World Civil Aviation Day."

A number of state officials participated in the protest and slammed the continued closure of the Sana'a airport by the Saudi-led coalition.

Protesters demanded the reopening of Sana'a airport and called on the international community to pressure Saudi Arabia to lift its siege on Yemen. They held the UN responsible for not taking any action against Saudi violations.

Six years ago, Saudi Arabia imposed restrictions on Yemen’s airspace and shut down Sana'a airport. The closure has led to the death of tens of thousands of patients, including children, who needed to travel abroad for treatment unavailable in Yemen due to the collapse of the healthcare system.

Thousands of Yemeni patients, including children, have died while waiting for a chance to travel through this closed airport, which is only receiving the United Nations’ flights. People here say the airport should also be closed to the UN to push the world body to take real measures against the Saudi blockade imposed on Yemen.
