A senior official with Hamas resistance movement says Palestinians are fully entitled to internationalize their cause and resist the Israeli occupation by all possible means.

Raafat Murra made remarks in a statement on Monday, calling for the annual observance of November 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

“As we mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, we affirm our people's right to continue struggle against the Israeli occupation, to resist the occupation by all possible means, and to live in peace, security and stability without occupation and terrorism,” the statement read.

In 1977, the UN General Assembly called for the annual observance of the date as the day of solidarity with the people of Palestine.

On Sunday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated in a Twitter posting, “The situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory remains a challenge to int'l peace & security.”

The Hamas official also censured the Fatah-dominated Palestinian Authority based in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah. He said the Palestine Liberation Organization's recognition of Israel has thwarted the symbolism of the day.

Experts believe that the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East al-Quds, continues to pose a significant challenge to international peace and security as violations of the rights of Palestinians persist and Israel continues its settlement expansion.

Abu Kuweik, a high-ranking Hamas official, had earlier condemned an incident at the Ibrahimi Mosque in the southern occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil, where Israeli President Isaac Herzog visited on the Jewish festivity of Hanukkah.

He said the move went in line with Tel Aviv's plans to Judaize the entire city as well as the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.

In May, frequent acts of violence against Palestinian worshipers at the al-Aqsa Mosque led to an 11-day war between Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza and Israel. The regime killed at least 260 Palestinians, including 66 children, during the conflict.
