On the sidelines of the international conference for Syrian refugees' return, a dialog session headed by Syria’s FM Faisal Mikdad was held to discuss the media war on Syria.

Addressing Russian and Syrian officials, as well as Arab and Western journalists, writers, and intellectuals, Mikdad reiterated that the war on Syria is a result of Western conspiracies that was based on lies fabricated in their media to change the political and geographic status-quo in the Middle East, giving many examples on such cases.

The Syrian president’s media advisor, Buthaina Shaaban, said the media war on Syria started in parallel with the military one with huge financial support, and succeeded to promote lies and mislead the world that the war on Syria was a civil war. She called for following the mechanisms used by Western media to promote the truth of events and opinions, asserting to Press TV the importance of combining efforts with allies to face Western propaganda.

The Russian president’s special envoy to Syria said his country is exerting efforts for conveying the truth of events in Syria to the international community in the face of an organized media campaign on Syria. He also stressed his country’s determination to wipe out terrorists in Idlib as we all as Daesh in the eastern part of the country, expressing rejection of Israeli airstrikes on Syria.

Speakers also included Syria’s minister of information, who explained that social media was a main tool of war that was used to promote violence and persuade public opinion against the Syrian government.
