Iran’s under 23 freestyle team have ranked second best in Serbia 2021 World Wrestling Championship, with a total of 1 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals.
Taghi Akbarnejad’s team who had earned a gold and 3 bronze medals in the first 5 weight categories, claimed 4 more podium places on Sunday, with Mohammadsadegh Firouzpour and Sajad Gholami taking 2 silver medals in the 74 and 86kg classes respectively, while Amirhossein Firouzpour and Seyyed Mehdi Hashemi snatched 2 bronze medals in the 92 and 125kg divisions in that order.
Iran secured the runners up place with 140 points, just 5 shy of champions Russia.
Armenia ended up third on 114 points.
