People in the Gaza Strip held a demonstration in front of the Red Cross office in the Gaza Strip to express solidarity with Palestinian inmates in Israeli jails who are on a hunger strike in protest to their harsh conditions.

Seven Palestinian inmates are in critical condition due to their hunger strike against the illegal administrative detention practiced against them.

In a press conference held during the demonstration, the participants warned against the deteriorating health conditions of the prisoners in Israeli jails.

Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails have witnessed heightened pressure over the past years. There are reportedly about 5,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, with a great number of them remaining in jail without any charge or trial.

Israeli authorities keep Palestinian inmates under harsh conditions from lacking proper hygienic standards to systematic torture.

Many Palestinian inmates in Israeli jails have gone on an open-ended hunger strike, vowing to continue their protest till their demands are met and their legal rights respected.
