Iran have moved a step closer to AFC Under-23 Asian Cup 2022 with a 2-nil win over group B rivals Lebanon in Tajikistan.
Mehdi Mahdavikia’s side who had put four goals past Nepal in the group opener, seemed to be going for another rout when Mehdi Lamouchi opened the scoring in as early as the 5th minute.
But the second goal arrived late in the stoppage time, with Milad Kor rising high to head home the sealer.
The result takes Iran to the maximum six points after two matches, meaning a win in Sunday’s Group finale against hosts Tajikistan will secure their progression as group winners.
