Amir Hossein Zare has earned Iran’s 6th medal at the summer games, after beating his Chinese opponent in the 125kg category bronze match.
Twenty-year-old Zare, who had beaten opponents from Ukraine and Kosovo, before losing the semi-final bout to Geno Petriashvili of Georgia, was not troubled by Deng Zhiwei of China and out-muscled him 5-nothing to take the bronze.
It was Iran’s second medal in freestyle competitions, following Hassan Yazdani’s silver in the 86kg class, earlier on Thursday. The Iranian delegation is now ranked 29th in the Tokyo Olympics medals table with 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
