Tokyo Olympics: Djokovic eases past Nishikori into semis

World no.1 Novak Djokovic has surged into the semi-finals of the men’s singles at the Tokyo Olympics, after dismantling Japan’s Kei Nishikori in straight sets.

The Serbian ace, rarely looked troubled against the home favorite, and raced to a 6-2, 6-love victory in just one hour and 10 minutes.

Djokovic will next meet Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the last 4 on Friday, as he continues his quest to become the first man ever to win the Golden Slam. 

Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev crashed out of the Olympics following a straight-sets defeat at the hands of Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain in the quarter-finals.

The Spaniard wrapped up the match with a 6-2, 7-6, and will face Russia's Karen Khachanov for a place in the final.
