Afghanistan has been mired in a deadly conflict for decades. People across much of the country have to deal with violence and uncertainty on a near daily basis. Iranian documentary maker, Mohsen Eslamzadeh, has risked his life to depict the lives of the people on the very frontlines of the battle. His film, called Life Among War Flags, will be aired by Press TV for the first time. In an interview with our network, Eslamzadeh talked about his daring journey.

“I had promised myself to show both sides of the war. The first part of my documentary was filmed among Afghan government forces. Then I took a very big risk and secretly set an appointment with the Taliban,” he said.

“I didn’t know what was going to happen. The most important point was that we needed to move along the lines of the battle because our documentary was about the lives of people on both sides of the war. People are afraid of all warring sides, of the Americans, the Afghan army, Daesh and the Taliban. No one knows who will have the control of their territory the next day - Daesh, the Americans or the army. We had to act in order to capture the unique experience that the conditions offered. We stepped into war zones where unmanned US aircraft were hovering above our heads. We took all risks to produce a good documentary.”
