Heavily-armed militants have killed at least three Pakistani soldiers in the northwestern tribal region close to the border with Afghanistan, security sources say.
Militants fired on a checkpost in Spinwam district in North Waziristan on Monday.
On June 30, at least two soldiers were killed in the Dwatoi district of the same troubled region.
In May, an ambush by militants killed four Pakistani soldiers fencing the disputed border with Afghanistan in the southwest province of Balochistan.
The latest round of violence in Pakistan has coincided with the Afghan Taliban's offensive against the government in Kabul.
Pakistan believes its forces come under attack from time to time by the militants of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its allies that are alleged to be based in eastern Afghanistan.
Islamabad and Kabul regularly accuse each other of sheltering their enemy insurgents. Both sides, however, deny such an allegation.
Despite frequent offensives by the Pakistani army, acts of terror by militants continue to target security forces as well as civilians.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has ruled out the possibility of Pakistan allowing its territory to be used for US military bases that could support Afghan forces.
Tajikistan mulls setting up camps for Afghan refugees
Media reports said Tajikistan was looking into setting up camps for potential refugees from Afghanistan.
The Taliban militants have taken over multiple districts in northern Afghanistan.
"Tajikistan is considering the matter of housing refugees from Afghanistan on its territory," an unnamed government official was quoted as saying.
"The issue of setting up refugee camps is being discussed with partners as well."
Taliban have launched several major offensives in northern Afghanistan in recent weeks. The Taliban seized Afghanistan’s main crossing into Tajikistan last month.
The militants have taken "full control" of six districts in the northeastern province of Badakhshan bordering Tajikistan.
Hundreds of Afghan government forces have already crossed into Tajikistan in the wake of a new wave of attacks by the Taliban in early May.
