Israeli ship attacked
Israel says one of its cargo ships has been attacked in the Indian Ocean while en route to the United Arab Emirates. The ship was identified as Tyndall, a Liberian-flagged cargo ship which is under partial Israeli ownership. Israeli media say the vessel was possibly hit by a missile. Reports said the crew were not hurt and the ship was not badly damaged. Media reports cited Israeli sources who claimed that Iran was behind the incident. In the past months, a number of Israeli ships have been targeted in waters around the world. The regime usually puts the blame for such incidents on Iran, but Tehran has vehemently rejected any involvement.

COVID-19 Delta variant
Russia reports nearly 700 new COVID-19 deaths setting a nationwide record for the fifth consecutive day. The country’s coronavirus taskforce also confirmed over 25,000 new coronavirus cases, the nation’s highest figure since January. Russian officials blamed the surge on the highly contagious Delta variant. In Indonesia, authorities declared a partial lockdown as the country logged nearly 28-thousand infections. The figure marks the highest daily rise in cases since the start of the pandemic there. Meanwhile, South Africa announced 26,000 cases, its second record-breaking figure in as many days. The Delta variant has been detected in at least 98 countries, sparking new waves of infections.
