World Cup 2022: AFC Asian qualifiers groups unveiled

The AFC Asian qualifiers draw has been made in Kuala Lumpur as Asia’s top 12 nations discovered their opponents in their quest to seal the spots for the World Cup Qatar 2022.

Based on the draw, Iran, who are one of the Asian top seeds, will line up against South Korea, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates in Group A.

Meanwhile, Japan, the other Asian top seed, were joined in Group B or what is considered the Group of Death by Australia, Saudi Arabia, China, Vietnam and Oman.

The winners and runners-up will seal their places for the World Cup finals, while the third-placed teams will advance to the Asian playoffs to determine the side that will advance to the intercontinental playoff.
